How Magnolia Belle Involves Families in the Recovery Process

Family involvement is a structured clinical component of our program. Research is clear that family participation in treatment significantly improves long-term recovery outcomes. Here is what that looks like at Magnolia Belle.

Family Therapy & Check-ins

When it supports the clinical process, families are invited to participate in twice weekly therapy sessions and guided check-ins. These are designed to strengthen communication, begin rebuilding trust, and help families understand what their loved one is working through.

Family Visitation

When appropriate, families are welcome to visit, and children are included as part of our family-centered approach. Our team will provide guidance on visitation scheduling during the admissions process.

Three-Day Family Intensive Workshop

Our three-day family intensive is a required component of the Magnolia Belle program, held in person at our Natchitoches facility after your loved one is admitted. It is one of the most important things we ask of the families in our program, and the data backs that up. Families who complete the intensive have significantly higher treatment completion rates than those who do not.

The intensive is facilitated by our dedicated family therapist and covers education about addiction and mental health, structured therapeutic sessions, communication and boundary-setting tools, and practical preparation for life after treatment. It is designed to support you as much as it supports her, because healing in the family system requires work on both sides.

Aftercare Planning & Support

Our care for your family does not end when your loved one leaves our facility. We work with families to prepare for the transition home, providing practical guidance and resources to support healthy communication and a stable recovery environment.

Continuing Care Program

If Your Loved One Has Not Yet Agreed to Treatment

Many of the families who reach out to Magnolia Belle are calling because they are trying to figure out how to get their loved ones here.

If that is where you are, our admissions team can talk through your situation, help you understand your options, and guide you toward the approach most likely to open the door to treatment.

For families who believe a structured intervention may be the right next step, our intervention specialists work directly with families to plan and facilitate that conversation with professionalism, compassion, and a clear path to treatment when she is ready.

Signs that professional support may be needed:

She is using substances to manage anxiety, depression, or emotional pain

She has experienced repeated attempts to stop without lasting success

She is withdrawing from family, friends, or daily responsibilities

Mood instability, irritability, or emotional withdrawal have become the norm

You have tried to talk to her and the conversation has not gone well

Common Questions from Families

  • Can I reach out on behalf of my loved one?

Yes. Many families take the first step by contacting us on behalf of a woman who is not yet ready to reach out herself. Our team will talk through your situation honestly and help you understand what options are available.

  • What if she is not ready to get help?

It is common for women to feel uncertain or resistant about treatment, sometimes for a long time before accepting help. Our team can help you navigate those conversations with care and connect you with our intervention services if a more structured approach is appropriate.

  • Will I be involved during her treatment?

When appropriate, yes. Family involvement is an active clinical component of our program. This includes family therapy sessions, guided check-ins, and our four-day family intensive facilitated by a dedicated family therapist. Families are also welcome for visitation, and children are included in our family-centered approach.

  • What is the three-day family intensive?

The family intensive is a required three-day program held in person at our Natchitoches facility after your loved one is admitted. Facilitated by a dedicated family therapist, it covers addiction education, therapeutic sessions, communication tools, and practical preparation for life after treatment. Families who complete the intensive have measurably better treatment completion rates, and we consider it one of the most important components of the Magnolia Belle program.

  • How do I talk to her about treatment without pushing her away?

This is one of the most common and most important questions families ask. Our team can help you think through how to approach that conversation based on your specific situation. For families considering a more structured intervention, our intervention specialists provide guidance and facilitation. There is no single right approach, and we will help you find the one most likely to work for your loved one.

  • What happens after she completes treatment?

Our continuing care program helps both your loved one and your family prepare for the transition home. We work with families on aftercare planning, communication strategies, and how to create a home environment that supports lasting recovery.

We Are Here for You Too

Recovery is not something a woman does in isolation from the people who love her. And supporting someone through it is not something you should have to do without support of your own. Our team is available around the clock to talk through whatever you are facing.
